Founded in 1976, Centaur Records, Inc. is one of the oldest and largest independent classical labels in the U.S. Centaur recordings are available in major markets throughout the world.

The world is full of music that hardly anybody has heard in centuries. Once successful and sought after, it was forgotten when musical taste and fashion changed. Duo Acquavella and the Bach Collegium San Diego invite you to join them on a journey back in time. Discover the world of the late 1750s and early 1760s and listen to trio sonatas, solo sonatas and duos composed for the once highly fashionable instrument, the mandolin. The music on the CD survived as part of the Gimo-Samling (Gimo-Collection) that is now to be found in the Biblioteca Rediviva in Uppsala (Sweden).

The new release will be available in the USA, Canada and digitally world-wide on March 11, 2016. World-wide release dates will be announced by individual countries. Pre-order sales are available now.

[bquote author=”Stephen Lalor” source=”Plektra, Australia, 2015″]Really enjoyed playing it (Yutuma for mandolin orchestra) – one of those (rare) pieces which is both immediately enjoyable for the audience, is challenging & fun to play for the group, and which one doesn’t tire of hearing or playing![/bquote]

Sheet Music – Il Mandolini e Congresso (arrangement by Acquavella)

Free download – Here is the arrangement I did of Il Mandolini e Congresso by C.A. Bracco. This arrangement was for the 2014 San Diego Classical Mandolin Camp. I created this arrangement based on the participants signed up for the SDCMC. Each year we’ve had excellent mandocello players. I wanted to make sure they had a challenging part. Also, there is a liuto part which is “mandola 2” in the original score. All the notes are the same; I just changed the name of the instrument to liuto. I also had a need for a mandolin 3 section, which is not notated in the score. Mandolin 3 was created by combining the easier passages from the mandolin 2 & mandola parts. Il Mandolini e Congresso by C.A. Bracco is a fantastic piece in the romantic Italian style. It has many moods flowing from gentle river to raging ocean from section to section. I hope you enjoy this arrangement of an epic piece for mandolin orchestra.
