The Landesjugendzupforchester Saxony, directed by Katja Wolf, will be premiering Chris Acquavella’s latest composition for zupforchester, Setsugekka: Snow, Moon and Flowers. Setsugekka: Snow, Moon and Flowers is a contemporary composition in two movements; I. Prelude and II. Snow, Moon and Flowers. It is inspired by a traditional Japanese Haiku, of the same title, by Michihiko (d.1818). The English translation is “Snow, Moon and Flowers: The moon, the snow, and now besides-through mist, the morning glow”! Come check out this exciting new work for mandolin orchestra.
